There are lots of cool things about Fresh Farmacy. The smell is very calming, and this soap goes on extremely smoothly to wet skin. It doesn't really lather, but the texture is VERY nice, and after rinsing, you can tell that your face has been thoroughly cleaned.



Perhaps a bit too thoroughly, though. Despite the fact that I have somewhat oily skin, I found this product to be excessively drying. I always seem to use a great deal of moisturizer afterward, so I'm somewhat reluctant to buy this product again.

My son was troubled with acne since he was 11. After many Dermatologists visits, expensive prescription creams, and $200.00 worth of Proactiv, my son's face and neck grew increasingly angrier looking. This was no mild case of acne. At 13,he was clearly upset over his skin. Walking through the mall one day with my son, we were stopped by a woman who claimed to have the same problem as my son.( She had beautiful skin).I thought she was trying to sell us something.I even asked her if she worked in the mall.( she didn't)She claimed she owed her clear skin to a soap called "Fresh Pharmacy", by Lush products, and that we couldn't buy it here in Sarasota, but could order it on line. She wrote down the name, and I ordered a few bars for my son. That woman was an Angel.His acne disappeared ,every day,a little more,and even the red scares left behind were gone in a few months. My son turned 18 yesterday, and has been acne free for 5 years now. He's handsome, and has a beautiful smile,not to mention beautiful skin. If a pimple dares to show up, he makes a paste with the soap, and a drop of water, and applies it to the bump. It's gone overnight. I am on-line right now ordering a few bars to send him up at college. He lets me know when he's running out. A few things we learned.....We only keep the extra bars in the fridge, and don't leave it in the shower, because it will melt. But, we're not complaining.... I saw all the high praise this cleanser got on the lush website and on here and had to buy it. The calamine was the thing that drew me to it since we're so used to using calamine lotion on insect bites, it just made sense calamine would be great for acne prone skin. I'm starting to run low on FF, so i haven't been using it as much, but it went on nice and smooth and washed off the same. It leaves my skin not squeaky but clean and soft. I think it leaves just a little bit of moisturizer on your skin and makes your skin look matte (the porcelain look others are talking about). When i use it on a normal basis throwing in a exfoliater every few days and using Lush's Imperialis lotion my skin improves. I still get pimples every now and then but they're a lot smaller.

Just as all the other reviewers have said, Fresh Farmacy's main ingredient is calamine lotion, which gives the bar its trademark color, texture, and mild scent. It has pretty bits of dried lavender and flowers on top that aren't really functional but still look nice.



I've had moderate acne since I was 12, and I love LUSH products, so I tried FF in hopes of finding a more "natural" blemish remedy. Unfortunately, it wasn't the cure-all that most people make it out to be -- it simply didn't work for my greasy, sensitive, highly blemish-prone skin. Every time I used FF, it left this weird pinkish-gray residue on my face that I had to exfoliate off with a washcloth. I was also shocked to feel my skin just as greasy as before I washed it. FF's scent is so nice and calming that I was really disappointed when it didn't get rid of my acne. It made a negligible improvement in the acne on my forehead (i.e., eliminated 1-2 blemishes out of 20) but ended up drying out my cheeks and chin, which then exacerbated the acne in those spots. I may as well have been washing my face with regular bar soap for all the improvement I saw! :(



If your skin typically only responds to benzoyl peroxide (mine does), FF may not work for you. I see that another reviewer didn't respond well to Proactiv, the active ingredient of which is benzoyl peroxide; FF worked great for her. Just something to consider. I'd say if you have super-sensitive skin, blotchiness, rosacea, or *mild* acne, FF would be great for you to try. Otherwise, you might want to find a different cleanser -- those with more moderate/stubborn acne might try LUSH's Coalface.

I've had pretty bad acne for almost ten years now. I've literally tried everything. I've used prescription creams, Proactiv, over the counter products, and none of them did much. Proactiv actually made my skin worse.



I've heard about Lush a lot for the past few years, but I don't have a store around me so I didn't bother to try it. After reading an article about them a few weeks ago I decided it wouldn't hurt to try and I ordered this soap. When it came I was a little underwhelmed by the look of it, but the smell was heavenly - after a stressful day at work it managed to relax me.



After just one use I could see it working. I'm very pale and my skin tends to get very blotchy, but after washing my face with Fresh Farmacy I saw my skin tone evening out. I've used it twice a day for about two weeks now and my skin looks better than it has in years. I've had a couple pimples, but they're small and disappear within a day or two. I've even seen a few start to develop, but a few hours after washing my face they're gone.



I recommend this product to everyone with moderate to severe acne.

Who would have thought charcoal and liquorice could get along? One is tough and gritty, the other sweet and syrupy. I bought a bar of this for my daughter to use on her acne but she never opened the plastic on it. So I started using it about 3 months ago. My acne isn't severe but I have really uneven complexion with hard bumps and acne scarring from my teen years. After consistantly using this soap, the bumps and acne are gone.

I liked the scent and didn't see any staining. I'd like to emphasize that the soap is drying, so I used a heavy moisturizer soap, Baby Face Cleanser I think it is called, with this and they work wonders together. I am very happy with my skin these days. I'm ready to buy a new bar of Coalface.

I've been using coalface for about 3 months now and I really like it. The scent did take a little getting used to. I've mostly steered toward the Lush products with really light pretty scents, and this one is very strong and not so pleasant at first. The results are worth it though. It really helps clear up mild acne. Now, I have had some breakouts while using it, one kind of severe one, but nothing compared to the breakouts I had before I started using Lush cleansers (I used FF before this which really helped clear up my initial acne).



Also, I found you use much less of this cleanser than other Lush cleansers. I think it's just because it lathers so well, but as I said I've had my bar of it for 3 months and I could easily go another month with it. So the only points off are for the scent, the product itself is wonderful.

I purchased this soap at the LUSH store in Seattle. I was intrigued by the claim to help fight oily, acne prone skin. It does work nicely removing oil from my face, but the sandpaper like quality - even when I lathered the soap in my hands - is very abrasive on my face. I think this product could be made better if it were not so gritty.

The description and reviews for coalface and my sheer curiosity for a licorice and coal cleanser drew me to coalface. I have acne and it really hasn't helped at all with it, and the coal is a little too coarse for my skin and i have to use a lot of the product to get enough coal on my hands to spread it evenly around my face. On a positive note it leaves my skin squeaky clean and i enjoy the scent. When using this i have to use a moisturizer afterwords or my skin cracks and gets itchy.

This is without question one of Lush's easiest facial cleansers to use. There's no need to mix up a paste, no special methodology. This one is pretty straightforward. Make a lather, rub it on your face, rinse, and you're good. But just because it's straightforward doesn't mean it's not fun to use. This truly is a black bar of facial soap, with tiny shimmers, which lathers up to smell of licorice. When you first use the bar there are extra exfoliating bits that help to slough your face, but those get used up pretty quickly. Coalface leaves my skin soft and smooth. It's meant for oilier complexions, but I didn't find it too harsh. In fact, those with very oily skin might want something a bit stronger. This is the perfect cleanser for morning, as it's easy to use and makes my skin feel fabulous.

I used to be very careful using exfoliators...only at night, never before wearing a thick moisturizer, never EVER before wearing makeup, etc etc. So, basically, I never used them. Angels on Bare Skin is the only exfoliating cleanser I have EVER completely used up and had to order again.



My husband brought me home a tub of the stuff after encountering a Lush store during a business trip. Man, it sure looks like you're smearing dried porridge on your face! It is not easy to get it to the right consistency for actually staying on your face and rubbing in; you need a little water but not too much. But, once you get it, it feels great! After splashing it off, my skin didn't feel raw and exposed like most exfoliators make it feel - it just felt fresh and clean and lovely. It looked darn good too! I found it to be the perfect cleanser for mornings; scrubs off any night cream residue but doesn't leave your skin too "open" for makeup or daytime moisturizers with SPF. Definitely never leaves my skin feeling dry and tight like soap does.



The only reason I'd give this a 4 instead of a 5 is that it is hard to get the right mix of water and "porridge," plus water seems to get into the container and leave a wet mess after a while. Also, splashing it off in the sink leaves little lavender seeds everywhere that look like rodent droppings (hey, we live on a farm, it's a problem)! Lush is NOT the world's most convenient or tidy skincare line, but it's really worth the slight hassles. Really worth it!

I love this product. It makes your skin feel amazing. Once you use this stuff, everything else will feel like harsh chemicals on your face. I would recommend watching some online tutorial videos on how to best use this cleanser, so as you dont waste too much of it each use. I would also recommend you buy a Lush Bar Tin to put this in.

I have oily/combination skin that despite regular facials, countless other product lines as well as pointless trips to a Dermatologist is constantly breaking out. I, like most, seem to have tried everything under the sun. Given my skin woes I was hesitant, to say the least, to try A.O.B.S. as it seemed to tame of a cleanser. Boy was I wrong!



How I use: Daily both morning and night with varying consistency and pressure to skin even on "broken" skin. I also have been using on my body especially my arms and anywhere where I have troubles with dryness or acne.



What I think is G-R-E-A-T: The first time I used A.O.B.S. I felt and saw a huge difference in my skin, like another user wrote. My skin felt softer, dewy and soothed, less irritated and red. I was astonished. As I mentioned, I even used this on "broken" skin (gently) and the results were no less than miraculous, seriously. Those `broken" areas healed quite a bit overnight and were totally healed in days when past products would have made it worse while claiming to make it better.



Besides my oily/combination acne-prone complexion, on my body I have KP (keratosis pilaris) also known as "Chicken Skin" and Folliculitis (inflammation) which A.O.B.S. seems to be soothing right away. Granted, it is not happening overnight, but in just over a week with daily use, it all getting so much better. Both are a lot less prevalent as well as less irritated and red.



I also like the smell, which, to me is lightly of lavender and almond. I prefer mixing A.O.B.S. with water myself because I know that I am paying for more the product rather than paying for water. Plus, I can get it to the consistency that I like, which varies depending upon my skin's needs. I fear if you get this and it does not smell lovely (remember lavender and almond), talk with LUSH. The ground almonds are surprisingly soft and gentle unlike any I have ever experienced. Plus, they seem to melt way as I add water or use any pressure. I have even used A.O.B.S. over my eyes (closed, of course and only ever gently).



No matter what your skin type, condition or state, you need to be careful and pay attention. I think A.O.B.S. would work for any skin type. Just remember that you are in control its consistency, so add as little or as much water as you like and your skin can take then be sure to pay close attention to how heavily you are exfoliating- a little pressure goes a long way.



What I think is not so great: Nothing really. It is what it is and that is why I like it. I would not change it.

I bought this cleanser from the store after using a sample they sent me from another order. The almond grounds are of perfect size and the smell is so light and pleasant (not like highly perfumed aquamarina). It works great as a exfoliater since it's not too lite and not too harsh (considering i have acne prone skin), and it leave just a little bit of a residue on my skin that is like a very light moisturizer and matteifies my skin for a little while. Overall this is a great product and one of my favorites from Lush!

This is the LUSH product that started my addicition! I had just started using Proactiv when my girfriend gave me a sample of Angels.



The Proactiv was working for me, but was drying out my skin something wicked.



I started using Angels on Bare Skin in the afternoon and found that it really helped with the dryness caused my the harsh chemicals of the Proactiv.



Angels is moisturising and mildly exfoliating. The ground almonds really leave your face invigorated (I rub it one for a minimum of one minute (good for circulation)... It takes time for your face to absorb the goodness!)



The smell is very fresh and lavender based.



Don't be afraid of the oil in the cleanser, even if you are using Proactiv. Chances are, your face needs it and it will REALLY reduce the chafed, burning, cracked skin feeling that you feel whenever you smile.



It did not cause additional breakouts.



I removed one star becuase for oily, acne prone skin, Angels on Bare Skin ALONE will not give you the desired results that you are looking for. (I tried using just Angels and my skin was not bad, but not as good as it was when used with medicated treatment)



Then again, if you do not have acne, Angels on Bare SKin would be a FIVE STAR product for sure.



Remember when purchasing that a little goes a VERY long way and it has a shelf life of only three months.



Fifteen dollars worth will typically last me three months if I use a pea sized amount mixed with water once a day, with the occasional multiple washing.



Great value. Amazing product.

Last time I went to the Lush store I was in the mood for one of their fresh masks. I had great luck with the chocolatey "Cupcake" and the green scrubby Lettuce mask, but that day they were out of all their masks. The sales person pointed me straight towards Mask of Magnaminty, and after taking a peak at it I knew it must have been good. The scent is mostly peppermint, with a hint of vanilla, very refreshing and it feels powerful when applied to the face, I could feel it sucking out everything that didn't belong on my skin.



I wanted something that would de-gunk my face, to scrub and invigorate it to tip top shape and this did the trick! I didn't use this as a wash, instead I used my favorite face wash and applied this to a clean, dry face and about eight minutes later I scrubbed it off in the shower. I could feel the smoothness and slickness returning to the top layer. My skin was glowing after I used my night serum and lotion and even the self tanner I applied later went on beautifully and smoothly. The results were great and I felt like it erased any redness and imperfections right off my face, the skin was even and pristine. As an added bonus - this lasts 4 weeks, much longer than the fresh masks that you have to refrigerate. The tub is a decent size and I am looking forward to establishing a long, happy future with this mask.

This mask works wonders for my skin. I use it either every other day, or every three days depending on the heat. I also use it as a spot treatment.



Combined with Fresh Farmacy, Cupcake fresh face mask, and Vanishing Cream moisturizer, this mask has cleared up acne that I have had since my teens!

This is an incrediably thick mask, a deep green that smells strongly of mint. The consistency is a bit like spackle, but don't let that turn you off- focus on the minty smell. There's lots of "stuff" in this mask- the consistency is by no means smooth. Take some out of the pot and smooth it on your skin, then let it dry. Lush advertises this as both a face and back mask, though I've never tried it on the back, and I'm a bit worried that if I put it on my back the green would wind up all over everything. Let the mask dry on your face- it does take awhile to dry, but it's a real pleasure to scrub off. I find the best place to take it off is in the shower, because it can make a bit of a mess coming off. This is a nice treat for the summer. I definitely recommend starting out with the smaller, rather than the larger pot if you're using it on face only. Every time I bought the larger pot I was never able to use it all up before the product dried out- it really doesn't take very much of this stuff to cover your face.

 "Deep Cleansing Green Clay Type Mask/Scrub" 2007-02-06

Most masks made with clay seem to dry out so fast you hardly have time to put them on your face before you need to wash them off. They also only seem to serve one purpose, drying out your skin or removing oil. There are some that leave your face feeling nourished and this is one of the healing clay masks. I have sensitive skin with a tendancy towards being either dry or oily - guess it is that lovely combination skin problem. So, this mask seems to deal with both issues at once - removing dry skin and deeply cleansing the pores.



Mask of Magnaminty is made with Bentonite, water, kaolin, honey, Phaseolus Angularis Seed powder, Evening Primrose seeds, peppermint oil, flower extracts, vanilla fruit extract and a chlorphyllin-Copper complex.



This is fun to use in the bath or in the shower while you are shaving. Put it on for a few minutes, let it dry slightly and then rub off dead skin cells. The seeds provide the exfoliating power.



Almost immediately upon looking in the mirror after leaving the tub, I could tell this mask had healing powers. Along with Dreamwash, my skin looked especially cleansed and calmed. I can recommend both to you if you have a need for skin brightening and calming. These two products seemed to work well together to create a radiant complexion. You may also want to try Prince Shaving Cream and the Dream On bath bomb. The Figs and Leaves soap is also very moisturizing.

it feels so good and is easy to wash off by yourself later (unlike some clay masks I've tried).

I have always had good skin, which was nice...but now I have GREAT skin. I've been using Ocean Salt(which literally smells like the ocean)for all of three days and WOW. Works better than anything I've tried before. I've been using it twice a day followed by Skin Nanny and it works like a charm. I normally have really tight itchy dry skin and this doesn't irritate it at all, even used so frequently.

This is probably one of the best cleanser/exfoliaters i've ever come across. It smells great and it leaves your skin feeling so soft. The best thing it that it's not over abrasive. I probably wouldn't use it if i had sensitive skin, but the size of the salt crystals were perfect for every other day use.
